The most amazing magical adventures is waiting for you, so it’s time to start! In the following sections we will introduce you to some of the most beautiful places to visit in this breathtaking city!!!
What to Visit
Take a look at Lello Bookshop.
Being defined the “world greatest bookshop” many times along the last decades, this is the place that you must visit in Porto. Right after entering its principal facade oriented to the south, you might get your heart closer to the magic of Hogwarts: scarlet stairs in a neo gothic style, windows full of colors and books everywhere recreate the environment where J.K. Rowling used to read and write.
Take a break at Majestic Café.
Located in Rua de Santa Catarina, one of the most popular in the city, this historical Café is the perfect spot to live the Harry Potter atmosphere. That is why the author used to spend many hours standing at the imposing marble facade, adorned with sinuous plants motifs that leave space to the inside of the building. With a real touch of magic you will enter a perfect Art Nouveau environment, where a compound of large mirrors and astonishing metal lamps creates an optical game that allows the tourist to jump into an even bigger space.
Cloaks at University of Porto.
Nothing to add to the magical space in the University of Porto. Founded in 1911, it guests more than 28.000 students every year. But more than anything else, you will be surprised by the many Harry Potters that you can see in this area. The University of Porto is literally the place where all the costumes of the little wizard have been conceived. Impressive black cloaks in Porto or little magician in Hogwarts?
Griffins at Fountain of The Lion.
In Gomez Teixeira Square you will find the most representative and emblematic animal of the Harry Potter’s series. Known in the myth as the Gryffin, this fantastic creature is half lion and half eagle. If you are a real Potter’s fan, it’s time for you to close your eyes and enter the magic world of Gryffindor House. Even though there are few difference with the proper animal of the myth, this fountain has given birth to one of the most famous Rowling’s creature.
Magic at Crystal Palace’s Garden and Sao Bento.
It has been said that J.K Rowling used to wonder and write many chapter of Harry Potter in these fantastic places. In the ongoing seeking of inspiration she found the right spot to invent the Forbidden Forest and the Dark Forest. Moreover, we would recommend Crystal Palace for an amazing walk with your family or friend. Finally, it’s time for you to reach Sao Bento train station and imagine to steal some architecture from King Cross (in London) to recreate the 9 y ¾ platform!
